I have always loved a salty sweet combo: PB&J, caramel popcorn, chicken and waffles. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. So these salty sweet cookies really hit the spot. The dark chocolate chunk cookies would probably be pretty darn good on their own, but add the flaky sea salt and *boom* it takes the cookies to a whole new level.
If you’ve never used flaky sea salt in your baking, now is the time to try it out. Trust me on this one. I always use it on my salted caramel apple pie and it totally makes these chocolate chip cookies.
Just look at that flaky salt. It’s gorgeous.
Another secret trick for these cookies is to save some of the dark chocolate pieces and once you have the cookie dough on the pan, place one on top of each cookie. When they come out of the oven it will give you the perfect melty chocolate spot for your salt to stick to. And it makes cookies look even more delicious.
