Ingredients
  

  • 6 medium-sized apples (preferably Granny Smith or a mix of tart and sweet varieties)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Instructions
 

  • Slice the apples into even pieces after peeling.
  • Apple slices, flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, salt, and lemon juice should all be combined in a pot.
  • Stirring constantly, cook the mixture over medium heat for about 10 to 15 minutes, or until the filling thickens and the apples become soft.
  • Take off the heat and thoroughly mix in the melted butter.
  • Before using the filling in a pie, let it cool fully.
  • You can also store it in the refrigerator for up to a week in an airtight container.
