The Bahama Mama cocktail is believed to have originated in the Bahamas in the 1950s. The exact origins are a bit murky, but it’s widely accepted that the drink was created by Caribbean bartenders who were looking to capture the essence of the islands in a glass.

- 1 oz. dark rum
- 1 oz. coconut rum
- 1 oz. banana liqueur
- ½ oz. grenadine
- 2 oz. orange juice
- 2 oz. pineapple juice
- Ice cubes
- Orange slice and maraschino cherry (for garnish)
Gather all your ingredients and equipment. Ensure you have fresh ice cubes ready.
In your cocktail shaker, add 1 oz. of dark rum, 1 oz. of coconut rum, and 1 oz. of banana liqueur.
Pour in 2 oz. of orange juice and 2 oz. of pineapple juice into the shaker.
Measure out ½ oz. of grenadine and add it to the mixture in the shaker.
Fill the shaker with ice cubes. Secure the lid and shake well until the outside of the shaker feels cold to the touch, about 15-20 seconds.
Fill your highball or hurricane glass with ice cubes.
Strain the mixture from the shaker into your prepared glass over the ice.
Garnish with an orange slice and a maraschino cherry. Serve immediately and enjoy your Bahama Mama cocktail!
