Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups dried navy beans
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 6 cups water

Instructions
 

  • Rinse the navy beans and soak them overnight in a large bowl.
  • Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C).
  • Drain and rinse the soaked beans. Place them in a pot, cover with water, and bring to a boil. Simmer for 30 minutes, then drain.
  • In a bowl, mix molasses, brown sugar, ketchup, Dijon mustard, salt, pepper, and ground cloves.
  • In a baking dish, layer the partially cooked beans and chopped onions. Pour the sauce over them and stir. Cover the dish and bake for 3-4 hours.
  • Uncover and bake for an additional 30 minutes until the sauce thickens. Serve this comforting dish with your favorite sides.
