Equipment

  • Saucepan
  • Whisk
  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • Funnel
  • Airtight glass bottle or jar for storage

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 cup of heavy cream
  • 1 cup of vodka or rum (pick your favorite!)
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Step 1: Cocoa Infusion
In a medium saucepan, combine the unsweetened cocoa powder and granulated sugar.
Gradually add water while whisking the mixture until it forms a smooth, lump-free paste.
Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle boil while stirring continuously. Allow it to simmer for about 2 minutes to thicken slightly.
  • Step 2: Add the Spirits
Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the cocoa mixture cool for a few minutes.
Slowly pour in the vodka (or your chosen spirit) while stirring continuously to combine.
  • Step 3: Creamy Perfection
Stir in the heavy cream, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt, blending everything until the mixture is velvety and smooth.
  • Step 4: Bottle & Store
Using a funnel, carefully pour the freshly made Chocolate Liqueur into a glass bottle or container of your choice.
Seal the bottle tightly and store it in the refrigerator for up to a month. Though, with its irresistible taste, it's unlikely to last that long!
