Dole Whip Recipe

Pinklady
The Dole Whip was introduced in 1984 by the Dole Food Company, a brand synonymous with pineapples and other tropical fruits. Originally designed as a dairy-free alternative to soft-serve ice cream, it quickly became a hit, especially in Disneyland and Disney World.

Equipment

  • Blender or food processor
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Silicone spatula

Ingredients

  • 2 cups frozen pineapple chunks
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk (or any plant-based milk for a dairy-free option)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (optional, depending on the sweetness of the pineapple)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions

  • Prepare the Ingredients: Gather all the ingredients and ensure your pineapple chunks are fully frozen. This helps achieve the creamy consistency of Dole Whip.
  • Blend the Base: Add the frozen pineapple chunks, coconut milk, sugar (if using), lemon juice, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt to your blender or food processor.
  • Blend to Perfection: Blend the ingredients on high speed until smooth. You may need to stop and scrape down the sides of the blender with a spatula to ensure everything mixes evenly.
  • Check the Consistency: The mixture should be thick and creamy, similar to soft-serve ice cream. If it’s too thick, add a little more coconut milk, one tablespoon at a time, until the desired consistency is achieved
  • Serve Immediately: Scoop the Dole Whip into bowls or glasses for immediate enjoyment. For a more authentic presentation, use a piping bag with a star tip to swirl the mixture into a soft-serve shape.
  • Optional Garnish: Top with fresh pineapple slices, a maraschino cherry, or shredded coconut for added flair.
