- 1 cup of white rice (long-grain, basmati, or jasmine)
- 1¼ cups of water (for white rice; adjust for other types)
- Optional: ½ teaspoon salt and 1 teaspoon olive oil or butter for flavor
Rinse the Rice:Place the rice in a fine mesh strainer and rinse under cold running water. Rinsing removes excess starch, preventing clumping or overly sticky rice. Add Ingredients to the Pot:In the Instant Pot, combine the rinsed rice, water, salt, and oil (if using). Stir gently to evenly distribute everything. Set the Instant Pot:Close the lid and ensure the steam release valve is set to "Sealing." Press the "Pressure Cook" or "Manual" button. Set the timer:White rice: 4-6 minutesBrown rice: 22-24 minutesWild rice: 25-30 minutes Pressure Cook:Allow the Instant Pot to come to pressure and cook the rice. You’ll hear a beep once it’s done. Natural Pressure Release (NPR):Let the pressure release naturally for about 10 minutes. After this, carefully turn the valve to "Venting" to release any remaining pressure. Fluff and Serve:Open the lid and fluff the rice gently with a fork. Serve hot as a side dish or base for your favorite meals.
