  • A plate for rimming the glass
  • A small bowl for mixing the chili powder and salt
  • A spoon for stirring
  • A jigger or measuring spoon

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle of Mexican lager (e.g., Corona, Modelo, or Pacifico)
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 2 teaspoons hot sauce (such as Tabasco or Valentina)
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Maggi seasoning sauce (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder (for rimming the glass)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (for rimming the glass)
  • Ice cubesLime wedges (for garnish)
  • Clamato juice (optional, for a "Clamato Michelada")

Instructions

  • Rim the Glass: Start by rimming your glass with chili powder and salt. To do this, mix the chili powder and salt on a small plate. Rub a lime wedge around the rim of the glass, then dip the rim into the chili powder and salt mixture.
  • Add the Lime Juice: Pour 2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed lime juice into the glass.
  • Add the Sauces: Add 2 teaspoons of hot sauce, 2 teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon of soy sauce (if using), and 1/2 teaspoon of Maggi seasoning sauce (if using). Stir the mixture well to combine the flavors.
  • Season the Drink: Sprinkle 1/4 teaspoon of ground black pepper into the glass. Stir again to ensure everything is mixed well.
  • Add Ice: Fill the glass with ice cubes, leaving some room at the top.
  • Pour in the Beer: Slowly pour the Mexican lager into the glass, allowing it to mix naturally with the other ingredients. If you prefer a "Clamato Michelada," add a splash of Clamato juice before pouring the beer.
  • Garnish and Serve: Give the drink a gentle stir, then garnish with a lime wedge. Your Michelada is now ready to enjoy!
