The Shirley Temple drink was named after the famous child actress of the 1930s, Shirley Temple. Legend has it that the drink was created in her honor by a bartender at a Hollywood restaurant when she was too young to enjoy cocktails.

  • 1/2 cup ginger ale or lemon-lime soda
  • 1 tablespoon grenadine syrup
  • Ice cubes
  • 1 maraschino cherry for garnish
  • Orange or lemon slice for garnish (optional)

  • Prepare the Glass:
    Start by filling a tall glass with ice cubes. The ice helps keep the drink cool and refreshing.
  • Add the Ginger Ale or Soda:
    Pour 1/2 cup of ginger ale or lemon-lime soda over the ice. This forms the base of your Shirley Temple, giving it that fizzy, bubbly texture that makes it so fun to drink.
  • Mix in the Grenadine:
    Add 1 tablespoon of grenadine syrup to the soda. Grenadine gives the Shirley Temple its signature red hue and sweet flavor. The syrup will naturally sink to the bottom of the glass, creating a lovely layered effect.
