  • 8 cups of water
  • 1 cup malt extract
  • 1/2 cup crushed crystal malt
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 ounce of hops
  • 1 packet of ale yeast

Instructions
 

  • Prepare the Ingredients: Begin by measuring out your malt extract, crushed crystal malt, molasses, and hops.
  • Boil the Mixture: In a large pot, bring 8 cups of water to a boil. Add the malt extract, crushed crystal malt, and molasses. Stir the mixture well.
  • Hop Addition: Once the mixture reaches a gentle boil, add the hops. Let it simmer for around 30 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  • Cool and Ferment: After boiling, cool the mixture and transfer it to a fermenter. Add the ale yeast, seal with an airlock, and let it ferment for about a week.
  • Bottle and Enjoy: Once fermented, transfer the small beer to bottles, leaving sediment behind. Seal the bottles and allow them to carbonate for a few more days.
