Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger or measuring tool
  • Strainer
  • Rocks glass (or any preferred serving glass)
  • Citrus juicer (optional, for fresh lemon juice)

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz (45 ml) amaretto liqueur
  • 1 oz (30 ml) fresh lemon juice
  • 0.5 oz (15 ml) simple syrup (or adjust to taste)
  • 1 egg white (optional, for frothiness)
  • Ice cubes
  • Garnish: Maraschino cherry and an orange slice

Instructions

  • Prepare Your Ingredients:Gather all your ingredients and equipment. If using fresh lemons, juice them to get 1 oz of lemon juice. Prepare your simple syrup if you don’t have it ready by dissolving equal parts sugar and water.
  • Add to the Shaker:In a cocktail shaker, combine 1.5 oz of amaretto, 1 oz of fresh lemon juice, 0.5 oz of simple syrup, and 1 egg white (if using). The egg white adds a velvety texture and a foamy top but is optional.
  • Dry Shake:Without adding ice, shake the mixture vigorously for about 10 seconds. This step helps emulsify the egg white for a smooth and frothy consistency.
  • Add Ice and Shake Again:Open the shaker and add a handful of ice. Shake again for another 10-15 seconds until the shaker feels cold to the touch.
  • Strain and Serve:Strain the mixture into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice. If you prefer a cleaner look, you can strain it without ice.
  • Garnish:Add a maraschino cherry and a slice of orange for a vibrant and classic finish.
  • Enjoy:Sip and savor the perfect blend of sweet almond and tart citrus flavors.
