- For the Biscuits: 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
- 3/4 cup milk
- For the Gravy: 1/4 cup sausage drippings or bacon grease
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Stir in the milk until a soft dough forms.
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently. Roll out to 1-inch thickness and cut into biscuits using a biscuit cutter or glass.
Place the biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
For the Gravy:In a skillet, heat the sausage drippings or bacon grease over medium heat. Whisk in the flour to create a roux, cooking for 1-2 minutes until lightly browned.
Gradually pour in the milk, whisking constantly to avoid lumps.
Cook the gravy until thickened, about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
