  • 6 cups of cubed day-old bread
  • 2 cups of whole milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup of raisins (optional)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt.
  • Gradually add the milk, whisking continuously to create a smooth custard mixture.
  • Gently fold in the cubed bread until every piece is coated with the custard.
  • Allow the mixture to rest for 15 minutes, letting the bread soak up the delicious flavors.
  • If desired, sprinkle in the raisins for an extra burst of sweetness.
  • Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish.
