Ingredients
  

  • 4 medium-sized sweet potatoes or yams
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, cubed
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup or honey
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish.
  • Peel the sweet potatoes and cut them into thick slices or cubes.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Stir in the brown sugar, maple syrup or honey, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Add the sweet potato slices to the saucepan, coating them evenly with the mixture.
  • Transfer the coated sweet potatoes to the prepared baking dish.
  • Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until the sweet potatoes are tender and caramelized, basting occasionally with the syrup from the bottom of the dish.
