- 4 medium-sized sweet potatoes or yams
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup butter, cubed
- 1/4 cup maple syrup or honey
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish.
Peel the sweet potatoes and cut them into thick slices or cubes.
In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Stir in the brown sugar, maple syrup or honey, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and vanilla extract until well combined.
Add the sweet potato slices to the saucepan, coating them evenly with the mixture.
Transfer the coated sweet potatoes to the prepared baking dish.
Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until the sweet potatoes are tender and caramelized, basting occasionally with the syrup from the bottom of the dish.
