Equipment

  • Large pot
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoon for dropping dumplings
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Ladle

Ingredients
  

  • 2 lbs of chicken (preferably bone-in for added flavor)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 carrots, sliced
  • 3 celery stalks, chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh herbs for garnish (thyme or parsley work well)

Instructions
 

  • START: In a large pot, combine chicken, onions, carrots, celery, and garlic. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Then, Add enough water to cover the ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until the chicken is cooked through.
  • Once that is done, Remove the chicken, shred the meat, and return it to the pot.
  • In a bowl, mix flour and milk to form a soft dough. Drop spoonfuls of the dough into the simmering broth, creating dumplings. Cover and let them cook until they're firm and cooked through.
  • After that,Season with salt and pepper to taste, garnish with fresh herbs, and your Chicken and Dumplings are ready to serve!
