Ingredients
  

For the Dough:

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) instant yeast
  • ¾ cup warm milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

For the Chocolate Filling

  • ¾ cup dark chocolate, melted
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons sugar

For the Egg Wash

  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon milk

Instructions
 

  • Prepare the Dough
    In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. Mix well.Add warm milk, egg, and butter to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.Knead the dough for about 10 minutes by hand or 5 minutes using a stand mixer with a dough hook until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  • Let the Dough Rise
    Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours or until it doubles in size.
  • Prepare the Filling
    Melt the dark chocolate in a microwave or over a double boiler.Stir in cocoa powder and sugar until smooth. Let it cool slightly.
  • Roll Out and Fill
    Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle about 10x14 inches.Spread the chocolate mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  • Roll and Shape the Dough
    Starting with a long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log.Slice the log lengthwise to expose the chocolate layers.Twist the two halves together, keeping the cut sides facing up, to form a braid.
  • Second Rise
    Transfer the twisted dough to a parchment-lined loaf pan.Cover it with a towel and let it rise for another 45 minutes.
  • Bake the Bread
    Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).Brush the top of the bread with the egg wash.Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped.
  • Cool and Serve
    Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.Slice and enjoy warm or at room temperature.
