- 1 can (20 ounces) crushed pineapple, undrained
- 1 can (21 ounces) cherry pie filling
- 1 package (18.25 ounces) yellow cake mix
- 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for serving (optional)
Set the oven to 350°F (175°C) and coat a 9-by-13-inch baking pan with oil.
Place the crushed pineapple and its juice in a mixing dish and mix in the cherry pie filling.
Place this mixture equally in the baking dish that has been prepared.Evenly and completely cover the fruit mixture with the dry cake mix
.Sprinkle the nuts equally over the cake mix if you're using them.Evenly cover the top of the cake mix with melted butter.
Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until the edges are bubbling and the top is golden brown, in a preheated oven.
Before serving, take it out of the oven and allow it to cool somewhat.
If preferred, top warm servings with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
