Equipment

  • Saucepan
  • Whisk or spoon
  • Measuring spoons
  • Mug or cup for serving

Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk (dairy or plant-based)
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • A pinch of black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional)

Instructions

  • Heat the Milk: Pour the milk into a saucepan and place it over medium heat. Warm the milk until it is hot but not boiling.
  • Add Spices: Add the ground turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, and black pepper to the milk. Whisk the mixture thoroughly to combine the spices evenly.
  • Sweeten (Optional): If you prefer a sweeter drink, add honey or maple syrup to taste. Stir until fully dissolved.
  • Add Vanilla and Coconut Oil (Optional): For extra flavor and creaminess, add the vanilla extract and coconut oil. Whisk until the oil is melted and well incorporated.
  • Simmer: Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes. This allows the flavors to meld together and the spices to infuse the milk.
  • Serve: Pour the golden milk into mugs. You can strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve if you prefer a smoother texture.
  • Enjoy: Enjoy your golden milk hot. Stir occasionally to keep the spices well mixed.
