Equipment

  • Slow cooker (preferred method) or a large saucepan
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Wooden spoon or spatula

Ingredients

  • 2 packages of Lil Smokies (about 28 oz total)
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 cup grape jelly
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Optional: a pinch of cayenne pepper for a bit of heat

Instructions

  • Prepare the Sauce:
In a mixing bowl, combine the barbecue sauce, grape jelly, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder. Mix well until the ingredients are fully incorporated. If you like a bit of heat, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to taste.
  • Add Lil Smokies:
If you're using a slow cooker, place the Lil Smokies directly into the slow cooker. Pour the prepared sauce over the sausages, ensuring they are evenly coated. If you're using a stovetop, place the sausages in a large saucepan and pour the sauce over them.
  • Cook:
Slow Cooker Method: Set the slow cooker to low and cook for 2 hours. Stir occasionally to make sure the sausages are evenly coated with the sauce.
  • Stovetop Method: Cook over medium heat for about 20 minutes, stirring frequently, until the sausages are heated through and the sauce has thickened slightly.
  • Serve:
Once the Lil Smokies are fully cooked, transfer them to a serving dish. They can be kept warm in the slow cooker or served immediately. Provide toothpicks for easy serving, and enjoy!
