Instructions

  • Cook the Rice
Prepare 2 cups of rice according to the package instructions. Keep it warm until ready to serve.
  • Prepare the Hamburger Patties
In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, soy sauce, black pepper, and salt. Mix gently until well combined.
  • Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into round patties about 1/2 inch thick.
Heat a large skillet over medium heat and cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side or until fully cooked. Remove from skillet and keep warm.
  • Make the Gravy
In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until golden brown to make a roux.
  • Gradually whisk in the beef broth, ensuring no lumps form.
Add soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
Let the gravy simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
  • Fry the Eggs
Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a clean skillet over medium heat.
Crack the eggs into the skillet and cook to your preference (sunny-side-up is traditional).
  • Assemble the Loco Moco
Start with a generous scoop of rice as the base.
Place a cooked hamburger patty on top of the rice.
Pour the rich brown gravy over the patty and rice.
Top with a fried egg and garnish with green onions or fried onions if desired.
    Serve immediately and enjoy!
