Get the ingredients ready: Dice the onions and bell peppers. Dice the garlic
Prepare the Sausage: One tablespoon of olive oil should be heated over medium heat in a big skillet.
After adding the sausages, heat for about ten minutes, or until browned all over. Take out and place aside from the skillet.
Prepare the Veggies: Pour the remaining olive oil into the same skillet.
Add the bell peppers and onion slices. They should soften after around five to seven minutes of sautéing.
Add the red pepper flakes (if using), oregano, basil, and minced garlic. Simmer for a further two to three minutes.
Mix and Cook: Cut the browned sausages into small pieces using a knife. Return the sausage chunks to the skillet along with the veggies.
To deglaze the pan and scrape out any browned bits from the bottom, pour in the white wine or chicken broth.
For around ten minutes, or until the sausages are thoroughly cooked and the flavors combine, simmer everything together.
After seasoning, serve: To taste, add salt and pepper for seasoning. Add some freshly cut parsley as a garnish.
Serve hot on thick Italian bread, in hoagie buns, or on its own.
